Shaun Ling is a Thai-Chinese, who was born in Bangkok. He attended Lasalle College of the Arts, Diploma in fashion design & textile and graduated B.A. Hons. Fashion design at Academia Italiana. During his years as a fashion student, Shaun began the interest in the concept of an anti-trend luxury label. After working for various luxury brands as a visual designer, he felt that trends has a negative effects on luxury product as it causes depreciating value and wasteful consumption.

 

After leaving his job as a visual designer, he developed his first product, the 'Astrid' handbag from his small studio in Bangkok. Along with the bag, Shaun has developed ‘Juniper Ball’, named after Shaun favorite scent of the juniper berry, designed as a new technique for the replacement of clasp which was inspired by the built of luxury time pieces. Juniper Ball shows the complexity of the construction that is easy to function and aesthetically pleasing with or without usage. With the distinctive ‘no label and hardware’ profile, it is a way of appreciating design without the distractions.

 

Shaun then become chief executive officer of Vahgary Group in 2019. His mission is to create a brand with a modern classic design in a slow fashion manner, focusing on small scale craftsmanship of the product. With Public Ensemble, he wants to define the word ‘honest luxury’ with an ethical business that is also responsible for the consumption of customer & the environment.
